Threaded Barrel Ruger RXM Debuts

On August 14, 2025, Ruger added a threaded-barrel RXM 9mm. The barrel is 4.5 inches with 1/2×28 threads and a protector. It is suppressor-ready, so you can mount a can or a comp right away. The slide stays optics-ready. Also, the tritium front sight is co-witness height, so irons still work with many dots.

Retailers list an overall length of 7.65 inches and a weight of 23.6 ounces. That is a small bump over the original 4.0-inch model. However, the longer tube may add a bit of velocity and dwell time. It is already shipping through dealers at a modest premium over the base RXM. Overall, this model fits buyers who want a simple, factory host with warranty support.

What’s New

  • Factory 1/2×28 barrel (4.5″) with knurled protector—ready for suppressors or comps out of the box.
  • Co-witness height sights retained for use with red dots; optics footprints remain supported.
  • Includes an extra guide-rod assembly (18 lb spring) to help tune with suppressors—nice touch at this price.
  • Pricing: coverage pegs it at roughly $70 more than the standard RXM.

Why It Matters

For concealed carriers and range shooters who plan to run a can, the RXM’s threaded-barrel option removes the guesswork of parts compatibility and sight height. Add in the RXM’s modular design and Magpul grip module, and you’ve got a budget-friendly path to a suppressor-ready, optics-ready 9mm that plays well with modern accessories (Your suppressor just did a little fist pump).
