KelTec KS7 GEN2 Announced — Compact Bullpup 12 Ga

The KelTec KS7 GEN2 keeps the short bullpup size. It now adds a molded forend rail, smoother cycling, and small durability tweaks. As a result, setup is faster and handling stays light.

On August 29, 2025, KelTec announced the KS7 GEN2. The update keeps the single-tube, downward-ejecting layout. It also keeps the familiar 7+1 (2¾”) or 6+1 (3″) capacity. Meanwhile, overall length stays just over 26 inches, which helps indoors. Shipping is expected soon.

What actually changed?

  • Built-in rail: A 5-slot Picatinny-style section is molded into the forend. Therefore, you can mount a light or grip with no extra kit.
  • Smoother stroke: Internal tweaks aim to reduce drag during the pump. Consequently, follow-up shots should feel easier.
  • Light weight: It still comes in around 6.8 lb unloaded. Thus, the gun stays nimble for a 12-gauge.

Why it matters

Home defenders often need short movement, quick light access, and simple controls. The GEN2 leans into that use. Because the rail is integrated, you skip third-party parts and extra screws. In addition, the bullpup balance keeps the weight close to the shoulder. As a result, the muzzle feels easier to manage around corners.

Overall, the KS7 GEN2 looks like a careful tune-up, not a full redesign. Even so, the built-in rail and smoother stroke may save time and effort during setup. For many users, that is the point. Also, the short length still avoids NFA paperwork. That’s handy, and yes, a little loud.
